A groom who caused a wedding day punch-up which led to one of his guests plunging through a glass door has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
William Kearns tied the knot at Pittodrie House Hotel in Inverurie on November 4, but brought the proceedings to an halt with his aggressive behaviour.
Guests recalled seeing the 33-year-old trading drunken insults with guest Michael McDade and the two quickly became involved in an argument.
Kearns pushed and punched the man repeatedly, before a struggle which left him falling through a mirrored glass wardrobe door – suffering severe injuries and “significant” cuts.
He admitted the assault at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

Defence solicitor David Sutherland said: “An excess of alcohol had been consumed by both the accused and the complainer.”
He told the court guests had quickly been made “uncomfortable” by the unfolding scrap, and added: “The incident really ruined the night’s festivities.”
Sheriff Andrew Miller said it was a “completely unusual” case.
He said: “Although there were significant injuries and permanent disfigurement, the actual mode of causation didn’t involve the use of a weapon.
“It was a completely unusual mechanism of injury.
“You have accepted that you assaulted Mr McDade, who was a guest at your wedding.
“Clearly this matter will have polluted, in particular, your wife’s recollection of her wedding day.”
Kearns, of Ordhead in Inverurie, was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and given a year-long supervision order.
