A man who subjected two strangers to terrifying sex attacks in Aberdeen 11 years apart has been jailed.
Christopher Kenn, also known as Lumsden, assaulted both women with the intent of raping them.
At the High Court in Glasgow today, judge Lord Mulholland described the attacks as “disturbing” and said they had left both women in serious distress.
He jailed the 45-year-old – who has learning difficulties – for four and a half years.
Lord Mulholland said: “These two women were strangers to you. They were entitled to go about their business without being accosted by you.
“You said that, had you not been disturbed, you intended to rape both these women. That is very disturbing. You know the harm you were doing to these women, they were screaming, upset and crying.”
Kenn previously admitted assaulting the women with intent to rape.
The court heard he pounced on a 25-year-old woman as she was heading home from a night out in Aberdeen in 2008.
During the incident in Orchard Street, he pushed the woman to the ground and lay on top of her while repeatedly trying to pin down her arms.
The victim’s screams were heard by man living nearby and Kenn fled.
But he remained at large as police were unable to find a match for DNA recovered at the scene.
It meant Kenn was free to attack a 16-year-old girl in the city in January 2019, after following her off a bus.
He jumped on top of the teenager, put his arm around her neck and covered her mouth before getting her on the ground, punching her and molesting her.
A dog walker heard what was happening and came to the girl’s aid.
He was tracked down using CCTV, and this time police got a DNA hit with the previous crime – leading to his arrest.
When questioned by police, he said he had attacked her “by accident” and knew it was “stupid”.
His counsel Tony Leneham told the court: “He has had the honesty to accept what he has done, which I suggest is unusual in this type of offending.”
Lord Mulholland also put Kenn on the sex offenders register and ruled he should be put on licence for three years following his release from prison.
