The trial of a man who allegedly raped a woman in a city centre restaurant bathroom is due to resume today after proceedings were unexpectedly halted yesterday.
Judge Iain Armstrong announced to the High Court in Aberdeen that he would be temporarily adjourning the case against 40-year-old Mark Caine because a juror had called in sick.
Caine is accused of pulling a woman into a toilet cubicle then assaulting her at Cinnamon, Union Street, on February 12 2018.
He denies the charge and claims the woman had consented.
Judge Armstrong said the ill juror is expecting to return to the panel today, allowing the trial to continue.
