First offender Luke McDowall, of the city’s Blair Grove, had been socialising in Aviemore’s The Vault bar when he was searched by police. When the blade was found he told officers he had been using it to cut line while out fishing earlier in the day. Defence solicitor advocate Shahid Latif said: “He forgot he had it.” Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood sentenced 18-year-old McDowall to 100 hours of unpaid community work.
