Two people have appeared in court accused of attacking a woman with a hammer at a house in Peterhead.
Thomas Chesterton, 26 and Charley Ironside, 24, allegedly grabbed the woman by the hair, punched her, brandished a knife and hammer at her and then repeatedly hit her with the hammer, causing serious injury.
The Crown alleges the woman was left permanently impaired as a result of the June 14 incident.
The pair are also accused of causing her fear or alarm by refusing to allow her to leave the property or use the toilet.
Chesterton and Ironside have also been charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice by washing the clothing they were wearing at the time of the alleged incident later that same day but at a different address in Peterhead.
Chesterton has also been accused of damaging a door by repeatedly striking it.
The pair have denied the allegations and will return to court at a later date.
