A teenager arrested in the centre of Wick was found to be carrying a knife, a court heard.
The folding lock-knife was discovered by police after they apprehended April Bremner on the town’s High Street on Monday.
The 19-year-old first offender appeared at Wick Sheriff Court and admitted carrying the knife in a public place.
Fiscal David Barclay said that police were investigating the complaint of an assault at the time and before placing Bremner in their van, asked her if she had any sharp objects in her possession.
The accused replied that she had “a weapon” and the three-inch blade was removed from her bra by one of the officers.
Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred sentence until January 8 for a background report.
He described the offence as “a very serious matter” and ordered the knife to be forfeitted.
The assault police were investigating became the subject of a second charge against Bremner, of Dunnet Avenue, Wick.
It alleged she had grabbed Alicia Manson by the hair in High Street, Wick, and repeatedly struck her to her injury. However, the accused’s plea of not guilty to that charge was accepted by the fiscal.
