Officers searched Mark Byth’s Walker Road flat on March 6 after receiving a tip-off about his activities. They seized a computer which was later examined and found to have 278 indecent images of children and six videos stored on it. Four of the videos and 102 images were classed as category A – the most serious. A further 84 images were category B, while the remaining 92 pictures and two videos were category C. Byth, 31, pled guilty to taking or permitting to be taken indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday. The court heard that the images found on the computer showed male and female children being abused by adults. Fiscal depute Lucy Simpson said: “Most were on the younger end of the scale. “The files showed as created on February 25, but had been deleted and were no longer accessible.” Sheriff Morag McLaughlin deferred sentence on Byth until next month to allow for the preparation of social work reports.
