A man caused £600 worth of damage by drunkenly punching a windscreen while being driven home.
Owen Bonner appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, where he admitted smashing the front window of a silver Volkswagen Caddy as it was travelling along South Anderson Drive on March 23.
The owner of the car decided to drive the 24-year-old home after he turned up to her door “heavily intoxicated”, the court heard.
Sheriff Graeme Napier was told that, on the journey, he became agitated and punched the windscreen of her car.
Following the incident, Bonner, of Deevale Gardens, apologised for his actions and the court was told he felt so ashamed that he helped to pay for the repairs.
Sheriff Napier sentenced Bonner to 40 hours of unpaid work.
