A convicted abuser of women shouted homophobic remarks at two teenage girls in an Inverness shop.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Rory MacMillan, who has moved from the city to Morven Place, Strichen, was in the Scotmid store in Oldtown Road on June 10 this year.
Fiscal depute Robert Weir told Sheriff Margaret Neilson that two girls under 16 came in as MacMillan, 39, was already inside with two other men.
Mr Weir said MacMillan’s conduct was “annoying to others” and it “escalated”. He directed a homophobic remark at the teenagers and left. The matter was then reported to the police.
MacMillan admitted behaving in an abusive or threatening manner and making homophobic remarks.
Defence solicitor Willie Young told the court that MacMillan was currently subject to a community payback order.
Mr Young added that his client had been ordered to take part in the Caledonia Project – a programme for serious domestic abusers.
MacMillan, who admitted previous convictions, had been jailed for 20 months at Inverness Sheriff Court in July 2017 with the Sheriff describing him as a “violent serial domestic abuser” who showed no remorse for his victims. Two of them were pregnant at the time..
MacMillan, formerly of Balloan Road, Inverness, had to be forcibly removed from the dock of the court twice by security officers following foul-mouthed tirades of abuse.
