A 32-year-old Inverness man with an “appalling record of domestic violence” threatened to kill his partner after suspecting she was cheating on him.
Sean Hartley, of Friars Street, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted assaulting and injuring his partner in his home on December 11.
The court heard he “seized her by the head, compressed her face and struck her repeatedly on the body” before “pushing her forcibly against a fridge freezer, causing a vase to hit her head”.
He also pled guilty to behaving in a threatening manner by shouting and swearing while accusing her of being a liar and a cheat.
Sentence was deferred until February 4 for a background report. An assessment will be carried out to decide whether Hartley is a suitable candidate for a rehabilitation programme.
