A Moray woman has admitted putting a shopper’s life in danger by hitting her with a car outside a supermarket
Claire Campbell, from Buckie, hit Shannon MacGregor or Pitt with her Fiat Punto at the Tesco store in the town on April 24 last year.
Yesterday the 31-year-old appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court to plead guilty to a charge of assault to severe injury and danger of life.
Following the incident police revealed that other shoppers in the car park rushed to the aid of the victim.
Paramedics were also called to the scene to provide care to the woman who was later taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin to receive treatment.
Sheriff Robert MacDonald read the accusation to Campbell, who was traced by police shortly after the incident, to confirm her guilty plea.
He said: “You did drive your car at her and strike her on the body with a motor vehicle, causing her to be picked up and knocked to the ground.”
Fiscal David Morton revealed that CCTV footage connected to the incident would be played at the next calling of the case.
Defence solicitor Grant Daglish said: “Clearly this is a case where background reports will need to be called for.”
Campbell, of Cairnfield Crescent in Buckie, had her sentence deferred to February 7.
