A Banff man has admitted driving while more than five times the legal alcohol limit – despite being banned from the road at the time.
Janis Belkovs pleaded guilty to three charges in Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday after being arrested on Monday.
The 31-year-old, who lives on High Street in Banff, was caught driving on South Road in Peterhead while disqualified from owning a driving licence.
A breath test showed that he had 111 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath, when the legal limit is 22mcg.
The Mintlaw-based police officers who stopped him also found he had no car insurance which related to the vehicle, and no third party cover which could apply.
Sentencing was deferred to allow for reports to be prepared, and he was remanded until his next appearance in court next month.
