A dangerous driver who caused a horror crash as he raced along a north-east road has been banned from the roads.
Cameron Fleming, 19, had been racing two others on the B993 Torphins to Inverurie road in his blue Vauxhall Corsa on August 4, 2018.
He had been travelling to Westhill with two friends after a day at the Aboyne Highland Games when he found himself behind a white Nissan GTR and navy Fiesta.
And as those cars accelerated to extreme speeds, Fleming did the same, at one point telling his passengers “that’s 120”.
But he lost control of the car and crashed into a bridge near Torphins, with the impact causing him and one friend to suffer fractured vertebrae, while the other broke his pelvis.
Fleming, of Main Street in Sauchen, admitted causing injury by dangerous driving at Aberdeen Sheriff Court last month.
He returned for sentencing yesterday where he was handed a four-year driving ban and ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work.
