A motorist has been banned from the roads after she sent a motorcyclist “catapulting” from his bike.
Alicia Dinnie was yesterday found guilty of driving dangerously on the A944 Alford to Sauchen road on September 9, 2018.
Biker Jarkko Heinonen and his wife Fiona were seriously injured.
Dinnie, 21, of Smiddy Hill in Alford, was convicted of failing to maintain proper observations and failing to observe stationery vehicles.
During the trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Mr Heinonen told the court he had been “catapulted” to the top of the car and “jumped down from the car” to check on his wife.
He added that the bike was embedded into the vehicle.
Mr Heinonen said he suffered bruising from his legs to his belly button because he “hit the bike’s fuel tank”.
Giving evidence, Dinnie said she had been travelling on the stretch of road between 40mph to 45mph before the incident occurred.
She added she attempted to swerve out of the way in an effort to avoiding colliding with the motorbike.
But Sheriff Graeme Napier found her guilty of driving dangerously.
Yesterday, he fined hear £1,000 and banned her for two years. She must carry out a competency test before getting back behind the wheel.
