A north-east man could be jailed after he punched a woman so hard he ruptured her spleen.
Darren Murray was woken up one morning last August to questions from his ex-partner, who had found a notification from a pornographic website on his phone.
He did not reply but leapt out of bed and struck her with such force that she fell over and had to be taken to hospital.
Murray, 27, admitted assaulting the woman to her severe injury and impairment at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal depute Katy Begg said the woman is still suffering pain from the attack and has had difficulties caring for her children because of it.
She added that Murray later told police: “I took it too far by punching her in the belly.”
Sheriff Graeme Napier said: “You understand how serious the injuries are that you caused this lady.
“A custodial sentence will be justified but I will look at all options.”
Murray, of Leask Avenue, Peterhead, will be sentenced next month.
