A Forres father-of-five who was driving while four times the legal alcohol limit was fined £320 and banned from the road for a year.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told yesterday that 36-year-old self-employed gardener James Wilson, of County Cottages, Dunphail, was stopped by police on July 12 this year on Stadium Road, Inverness.
Fiscal depute Pauline Gair said Wilson refused the initial roadside breath test but gave one at the police station.
His reading was 93mcgs of alcohol when the legal limit is 22mcgs.
His defence solicitor, Natalie Paterson said: “It was foolish decision-making. He will no longer be able to continue his work after he loses his licence.”
Sheriff Margaret Neilson certified Wilson as suitable for the drink drive rehabilitation course – which, if he successfully completes it at his own cost, would reduce the length of his ban by three months.
