A man who assaulted four women and a man over a 17 year period has been jailed for six years.
Gary Thomson, 42, attacked his victims on various occasions between February 1, 1996 and March 1, 2013 at addresses in Caithness and Shetland.
Thomson, who lived in Wick and Whiteness, Shetland, was convicted of serious assault charges following a hearing at the High Court in Aberdeen last month. His victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.
Sentence had been deferred on Thomson, a prisoner of HMP Barlinnie, in Glasgow, in order for the court to obtain reports about his character.
The judge Lord Bannatyne also ordered that Thomson be supervised by the authorities for three years following his release from prison.
