A police constable is facing an uncertain employment future after admitting a charge of behaving in a threatening manner at Lerwick Sheriff Court.
Police Scotland confirmed yesterday that Matthew Ross is a serving police officer – but a spokesman declined to give details of any possible internal disciplinary action.
In court on Monday defence agent Tommy Allan said Ross, who has been suffering from depression, faced a situation where his future employment “may not be assured”.
The 19-year-old had sentence deferred until the end of November for him to be of good behaviour after admitting to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his girlfriend at Posers nightclub in Lerwick on March 30.
The Police Scotland spokesman said: “As the sentence is deferred we wouldn’t be saying anything further until such time.”
Ross pled guilty to backing the girl up against a wall, verbally abusing her and striking the wall beside her head with his hand.
