A man is to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today following an early morning disturbance in Dingwall which left a 36-year-old in hospital with serious injuries.
Police were called to Hill Street in the Ross-shire town around 5.10am on Saturday after receiving reports of an altercation between two men.
Officers discovered after arriving on the scene, the one had sustained serious injuries and needed to be taken to hospital for treatment.
An 18-year-old man was arrested by police before later being charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear today at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Police remained in the town centre on Saturday morning as part of Hill Street was cordoned off with access restricted for members of the public.
Locals reported spotting officers conducting a thorough sweep of the area as inquiries into the incident were carried out.
