Cleaners at an Inverness garden centre discovered a break-in when they arrived on the morning of April 17, 2018.
They found flowers, food and other items strewn around the floors at Simpson’s.
A review of CCTV showed Brian MacLeod, 42, of Union Street, Inverness, raiding the premises about seven hours earlier. He broke in through a rear door and rifled through tills in the food hall.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told he also removed a safe which he opened to remove the money inside.
MacLeod yesterday admitted breaking into the centre and stealing a safe and its contents, cash, a charity tin and voucher books.
Sentence was deferred until September 17 for reports. He was bailed.
