Craig Cornish, 30, is alleged to have attacked Liam Ross on Church Street on March 11. He is accused of forcing him to the ground, striking his head on the ground and repeatedly punching and stamping on his head and kicking his body. The alleged assault is said to have left Mr Ross severely injured and permanently impaired. Cornish is also accused robbing Mr Ross of a mobile phone, a number of bank cards and cash. Cornish, whose address was given as Inverness Prison, denied all charges. He is due to appear in court again on June 10.
