A drug dealer who told police that he sold almost 4lb 8oz of heroin every three or four weeks returned to trafficking in the Class A drug after failing to turn up for a court appearance.
Officers seized heroin worth nearly £140,000 on the streets which was linked to Warren Hennelly from houses in Aberdeen and Foveran in Aberdeenshire.
Hennelly, 32, formerly of Pennan Road, Aberdeen, now faces an action to seize crime profits after admitting drugs charges.
He pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin between November 6 in 2012 and February 28 last year, when he appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday.
He also admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug between January 14 and March 14 this year after being granted bail at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on March 4 last year.
Hennelly, who owned a motor breakdown recovery business, further pled guilty to failing to appear at the High Court on October 25 last year.
Advocate depute Shanti Maguire told the court that Hennelly was interviewed and at first denied any involvement in the supply of drugs. But as he was being taken back to a cell he said he wanted to “admit to everything”.
The prosecutor said: “He claimed he had sold two kilos (4lb 6oz) every three or four weeks and these would be sold in half kilo or ounce deals.”
“He provided knowledge of adding benzocaine and pressing the drugs into street value deals. He stated that he had been selling the drugs to pay off a £40,000 debt and that the persons he owed had instructed him to do this,” she said.
Hennelly said during an interview that he had built up a gambling debt and started looking after heroin, delivering it and taking control of buyers’ cash after he was offered a way of pay off the money owed.
The judge, Lord Bannatyne, deferred sentence on Hennelly, a first offender, for the preparation of a background report.
