A north-east man has appeared in court after downloading more than 400 pictures and videos of child abuse.
Clifford Startin saved the footage, which included images of children aged between two and 15-years-old, on a computer, phone and two hard drives at his home in Heritage Way, Fraserburgh.
He was caught when police, following a tip-off, searched his property on August 8, 2019 and inspected his devices.
Altogether he had 408 pictures and four video clips, totalling more than three minutes, which were downloaded between December 31, 2018 and August 8, 2019.
Of these, all of the videos and 71 images were classified as category A – the most serious – with a further 193 at category B.
The 38-year-old admitted taking, or permitting to be taken, indecent images of children at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Startin was placed on the sex offenders register and will be sentenced next month.
