Two young Inverness men who were tailgating each other at 131mph on a dual carriageway have each been banned from driving for a year.
Dylan Hossack, 21, of Knocknagael, and 26-year-old Christopher Williamson of Carnarc Crescent were caught in a police speed trap in their hot hatches on February 20, last year at Arpafeelie on the Black Isle.
They were fined £480 pounds.
Fiscal depute Emily Hood said Hossack was in a Renault Clio with Williamson’s Vauxhall Astra just a few metres behind.
Solicitor Graham Mann, who said the pair were friends and workmates, claimed they were not racing.
“This is a passage of road which is prone to high speeds. But it is accepted this is a very high speed.”
Sheriff Iain Cruickshank said the driving was “extremely dangerous and at grossly excessive speed”.
