An oil worker said he was “disgusted with himself” after being caught drink-driving through Aberdeen.
Mark Hallatt, whose address was given as Stockton-On-Tees, was stopped while he was driving a grey Vauxhall on Charleston Road North near to its junction with the A956 Wellington Road on July 1.
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Police became concerned about Hallatt’s driving so they stopped the car and carried out a roadside breath test.
He was found to have 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 22 microgrammes.
Defence agent Liam McAllister said his client was “quite rightly disgusted at himself” and was driving a hire vehicle to his partner’s house at the time of the incident – which was a “very short distance” away.
Sheriff William Summers fined Hallatt £540 and disqualified him from driving for a year.
