A serial drink-driver found slumped at the wheel of a stationary vehicle has been banned from driving for four years.
Jody Smith, 43, had been drinking at a friend’s house and decided to drive home.
It was when he had stopped for a break on the B999 Aberdeen to Pitmedden road at Whitecairns that he came to the attention of the police.
Officers said they could smell alcohol on his breath when they approached Smith, of Yuill Avenue in Buckie, on August 9.
Police later found he had been driving with 96 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
Smith pled guilty at Aberdeen Sheriff Court earlier this month and was yesterday ordered to remain under curfew for four months, and to stay off the roads for four years, by Sheriff Graeme Napier.
Defence agent Andrew Ormiston said Smith “shows remorse for his actions”.
