A man who refused to leave his partner’s house was warned that his relationship could land him in jail.
John MacPhee, 53, of 19 Cruachan Crescent, Oban, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear and alarm by repeatedly refusing to leave Flat 6, Westbay Flats, Corran Esplanade, Oban on May 16 at the request of Isobel McArthur, who lived there.
MacPhee also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a bail order not to have contact with Miss McArthur on June 29 when police found her hiding in his loft.
Solicitor Edward Thornton said: “On May 16 he had been drinking. He went to Miss McArthur’s house, was invited in and they had a drink. He accepts they began to disagree. She asked him to leave and he said he would do so after he finished his drink. He accepts she asked him a number of times.”
Regarding the second charge Mr Thornton said Miss McArthur had gone to MacPhee’s house after she had contacted him to borrow money.
Sheriff Douglas Small told MacPhee: “It is quite clear that your relationship with this lady is just not doing you any good. It could eventually end up with you being sent to prison. I hope you take that on board.”
He was fined £270 for the incident on May 16, and sentence was deferred until January 6 for breaking the bail condition on June 29.
