An engineer wandered around a village in a skimpy nightie after waking up hungover following a night out.
Stunned residents called the police when they caught a glimpse of Bryan Forrester in his all-too-revealing attire.
Officers were sent to Cruden Bay In Aberdeenshire and found him waiting outside a shop to buy drink.
He was so drunk he had to be taken to hospital as a precaution, and then spent a night in the cells.
Forrester appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted committing two public indecency offences on November 24.
After hearing that he had inadvertently revealed himself to three people that morning, Sheriff Philip Mann told the 54-year-old: “That’s something no one should be exposed to.”
He decided not to place Forrester on the sex offenders register after being persuaded there was no sexual element to the offence.
Forrester, whose address was given in court papers as 250 Victoria Road, Plymouth, was fined £450.
Fiscal depute Ruairidh McAlister said a female member of staff at Cruden Bay’s Kilmarnock Arms Hotel saw Forrester sitting outside on plant pot.
He added: “When he stood up to move away, she saw that he was exposed through the bottom of his clothing.”
Two other witnesses who saw him walking along the village’s Main Street were also able to see through his nightdress as he wished them good morning.
The fiscal depute said police called to the scene were concerned about Forrester’s and he was taken to Peterhead Community Hospital where it was established he had consumed a large amount of alcohol.
He was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
His agent, solicitor Sam Milligan, said: “He had, for want of a better expression, been binge drinking over the weekend.
“He had attended at a local shop that morning in an effort to purchase more alcohol, but was told he could not buy drink until after 10am.”
“As he waited outside he was inappropriately attired and I don’t think anyone would dispute that.”
Mr Milligan stressed that Forrester had not deliberately exposed himself to anyone.
Sheriff Mann said there was no hint of “sexual deviancy” in the case.
He told Forrester: “It was extremely ill-advised for you to go out in public dressed as you were.
“I accept that the motivation behind this was more to do with drink, rather than anything else.”
Forrester declined to comment as he left court.
