A man has been cleared of raping a 14-year-old girl in Aberdeen woods – but has been convicted of having unlawful sex with her.
Connor Ferries was alleged to have attacked and raped the child at a wooded area near Barvas Walk, in Aberdeen, on October 23 in 2019.
Ferries, 23, formerly of Lang Stracht, in Aberdeen, had denied the offence.
But he was found guilty of having unlawful sexual intercourse with the teenager following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The girl told the court that he had pulled down her lower clothing and she started to cry and later texted a friend seeking help.
Ferries, a former Deliveroo worker, said that the teenager had offered to perform a sex act on him.
He was also cleared of two further charges of rape on not proven verdicts returned by the jury.
The first was alleged to have occurred between July 1 and September 30 in 2018 at his flat with a 16-year-old girl and the second on July 1 in 2019 at his home with the 14-year-old.
During his trial he admitted a further charge of having unlawful intercourse with the 14-year-old in July 2019.
The judge Lady Poole told him he had been convicted of “serious offences” and would be remanded in custody for the preparation of a background report before sentencing at the High Court in Livingston on March 16.
The court heard that Ferries has previous convictions for assault by spitting at a 16-year-old and throwing a sandwich at her younger sister.
