An Elgin man appeared in court yesterday after head butting his former partner.
David Arthur, of 61 Jamieson Drive, Elgin, left her with blood all over her face and clothes.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard police went to the address at 10am on July 11 after receiving a 999 call.
When they arrived they found Arthur’s former girlfriend crouched down on the floor inside the house visibly shaken.
Officers cautioned and interviewed the 27-year-old after taking him into custody.
Yesterday, defence solicitor Chris Bailey said: “My client expresses regret in relation to his actions and is no longer in a relationship with the woman.”
The court heard that Arthur was currently continuing on a course of methadone.
Arthur, who is in receipt of employment allowance of £70 per week had admitted a charge of assault at an earlier court appearance.
He was ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work in the community. In addition he was told to pay his victim £250 in compensation paid at £10 per fortnight.
He committed the offence while on bail having been granted it on July 9 last year.
