A young learner driver yesterday admitted a catalogue of motoring offences committed at the weekend in the west Highlands.
Rustam Utegonov, 18, of 4 Merrybent, Darlington, will be sentenced at Fort William Sheriff Court on September 16 after Sheriff Sheila Goodall called for background reports to be prepared.
The teenager, who appeared from custody, was allowed bail.
He admitted a number of charges, including stealing £45 worth of diesel from the Lochbroom Filling Station in Ullapool on Saturday.
He also pleaded guilty to driving on Saturday on roads at Strontian, while a provisional licence holder without showing L plates, having no qualified driver in the car and without insurance.
The other charges were that on the Saturday he removed the front registration plate from a red Mercedes car to avoid detection.
Between Saturday and Sunday he broke into the house of Morag Stewart and stole car keys and a black Vauxhall Astra.
He then removed the front registration plate to avoid detection and reveal the car was stolen.
It was said this was an attempt to pervert the course of justice. In removing the registration plate he wilfully damaged the car.
He further pleaded guilty to driving the Astra with no proper licence or insurance.
