An Inverness man has admitted drunkenly attacking two of his former partners.
Colin Drummond, 47, was due to go on trial at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, but admitted assaulting both women to their injury by punching them.
The incidents occurred in 1999 and 2012, both in Inverness.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart told the court Drummond had been in a 10-year relationship with Amanda Jamieson, which ended when she left the city.
However when she returned north with her new husband, they all went for a drink before going to a house in Bridgeview Drive.
Mr Urquhart said: “He had returned with Miss Jamieson’s husband and were joined later by her. He demanded to know why his former partner was out so late.
“An argument developed which culminated with him punching her in the face, causing her to fall over on to the ground on her back. She suffered bruising as a result.”
The second assault charge concerned another woman, Pamela Macdonald, whose relationship with Drummond ended in 2010.
But in April 2012 the couple was drinking at her address in Maclennan Crescent.
Mr Urquhart said: “Drummond accused her of being unfaithful with one of his brothers which she denied. He didn’t believe it and struck her on the face. A neighbour heard her screams and phoned the police.
“Officers attended but no-one responded so they returned the following day and saw that Ms Macdonald had bruising around her eyes. She told the police in no uncertain terms to leave and claimed she had fallen in the house.
She did not speak to police about the assault until January last year.
Drummond, who was described in court papers as an Inverness prisoner, was arrested on April 26 this year when Ms Macdonald contacted police to say that he was causing problems in her house.
Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC deferred sentence for reports until August 28. Repeat offender Drummond made no application for bail and was remanded in custody.
