A man who carried out “a nasty assault” on his partner in a hotel room was fined £750 at Oban Sheriff Court yesterday.
Michael Carter, 48, of 464 Leyland Road, Bathgate, pleaded guilty to carrying out the assault at Western Isles Hotel, Tobermory, on the isle of Mull on June 11.
The court heard he seized her by the body, push her, repeatedly struck her on her head and body and pulled her hair from her head to her injury.
Solicitor Stephen Mcleod said Carter had been seeking help for alcohol and anger management issues.
Sheriff Susan Sinclair told Carter: “This was not a good day out for you. It was a very nasty assault and it is taken seriously by the court. Because this is a first offence I will deal with it by way of a significant financial penalty.”
