A young man’s high-speed-driving through an Inverness housing estate was described as “madness” in court.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan told Inverness Sheriff Court that Paul Ross, 22, “shot past” an officer who was in a patrol car near Lochardil Road at 8am on November 10, last year.
He had a female passenger at the time, the court heard.
Ms Ryan said: “He followed the vehicle which stopped in Drummond Road, having struck the pavement with force and when he went to speak to the driver, he could smell alcohol off his breath.
“Other officers were called and Ross failed the breath test with a reading of almost one and a half times the legal limit.
The officer described the driving as “madness” Ms Ryan added.
Ross, of 4 Woodville Court, Culduthel Road, Inverness, admitted driving carelessly and at excessive speed as well as drink driving.
He was fined £400, ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for 18 months.
