Liam Macdonald, 24, cracked the pane of glass while trying to get into his accommodation on April 11 this year. But the court heard he was drunk and got the wrong door. He was filmed kicking the door on CCTV. Macdonald, of Old Royal Hotel, Union Street, admitted vandalising the door at the Waverley Guest House, also in Union Street. Defence lawyer Neil Wilson said: “He had taken various intoxicants and thought he was still staying there. It was a vain attempt to get in.” Macdonald, who also admitted previous convictions, was jailed for 60 days.
