A lorry driver who admitted drink drinking will lose his job after losing his licence at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Andrew Thorne, 34, 12 Cedarwood Avenue, Milton of Leys, also admitted driving carelessly on the A939 Tomintoul-Grantown road near Grantown by overtaking a vehicle in the face of oncoming traffic and causing a van to brake and swerve off the road.
The incident happened on January 5, this year.
Then on April 18, in King Street, Thorne was caught by police driving with excess alcohol. A test showed he was almost two and a half times the legal limit.
Defence agent Pauline Chapman said that Thorne’s marriage was going through a difficult period at the time and he had turned to alcohol.
“He has since stopped drinking.” she added.
Sheriff David Sutherland fined Thorne a total of £1,100 and banned him from driving for a year.
