A man who violently attacked his mother and was later found with a knife in Aberdeen has been handed a fine.
Maksims Proskurins, 21, punched his mother to the head after she refused his demands to use her mobile phone on October 3 2019.
He was found later that day with a knife on a public street in the Kittybrewster area of Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told Proskurins was also ordered by a court to stay away from the street where his mother lived – but defied the order less than a month later.
During his sentencing for the assault and knife possession charges yesterday, Proskurins admitted breaching his bail condition on both January 17 and February 1 last year.
He also admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner towards his mum and causing her fear or alarm, as well as assaulting her by punching her on the head.
Proskurins admitted stealing a mobile phone and of being on an Aberdeen street with a knife later that day.
Accused must comply with order
Defence agent Liam McAllister told the court that Proskurins had been making attempts to turn his life around and had recently gained employment.
Sheriff Janys Scott QC sentenced the 21-year-old to a community payback order with 12 months of supervision and fined him £260.
She told Proskurins, of Thistle Court, Aberdeen: “If you do not adhere to this order then you can be brought back to court and sentenced on the substantive matter, which could see you face a custodial sentence.”
