A north-east man has admitted repeatedly punching another male on the head and leaving him severely injured.
James Evans was not personally present when the case called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, but entered a plea of guilty through his solicitor Ian Woodward-Nutt.
The 57-year-old admitted assaulting the man at an address on Devenick Drive, Portlethen, by repeatedly punching him on the head to his severe injury.
The offence happened on December 21 last year.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Evans did not have any previous convictions.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan deferred sentence on Evans, of Devenick Drive, Portlethen, until next month and ordered the preparation of a social work report and restriction of liberty order assessment.
