An Aberdeen teenager admitted buying vodka with a fake £20 note.
Jordan King, 18, used the fake money, which had Chinese writing and no hologram, at Spar on Provost Watt Drive around 6pm on August 26 last year.
Yesterday, at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, King pled guilty to passing or tendering the note as genuine to staff – an offence under the Forgery and Counterfeit Act 1981.
Fiscal depute Christy Ward said King, of Stafford Street, Aberdeen, “handed over a £20 note” before leaving the shop.
After scanning the note the shop assistant realised it was fake and contacted police.
Defence agent David Sutherland said the incident was a “one-off”.
Sheriff Ian Wallace deferred sentence until October for him to be of good behaviour.
