A north-east shop worker stole £170 from a safe in the manager’s office to fund “substances”.
Sam Kerridge, 20, was caught on CCTV swiping the money from his place of work, Co-operative Food on Commerce Street, Insch.
Appearing without a solicitor, he said: “I took the money to pay for substances. I was doing substances due to stress with home life and work.”
Fiscal depute Lucy Simpson said: “At the time of the offence the accused was working at the locus.
“Around 6am the manager went into the office to check the safe and at that point noticed the £170 was missing.”
CCTV footage was checked and it showed Kerridge in the office.

Ms Simpson said: “He was seen to open up the safe, remove a bundle of notes and place them into his pocket. He then closed the safe and continued on with his duties for that day.”
He was subsequently traced and admitted to police he had stolen the money.
Kerridge, whose address was given as The Rowans, Insch, pled guilty to stealing the money on May 1 last year.
Sheriff Andrew Miller said: “Although this money was stolen from quite a big company, I think it’s fair they get it back.”
He ordered him to repay the £170 and fined him an additional £200.
