A woman asked a friend for financial help after writing off a car which had been bought by the boyfriend she allegedly murdered, a court heard.

Billie Malley, 25, told a jury that Tasmin Glass, 20, asked her for cash after she crashed her Volkswagen Scirocco car in February 2018.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard Ms Malley say yesterday that Glass’ ex-boyfriend Steven Donaldson, 27, bought her the vehicle.

However, after the car was destroyed, Glass used Facebook Messenger to ask for financial assistance because she owed Mr Donaldson money.

Ms Malley said: “It was either that she was due the money for the insurance for the car she had written off or she was due to give Steven money as he got the car. She would have said ‘don’t tell Steven’.”

Ms Malley was giving evidence on the third day of proceedings against Glass, Steven Dickie, 24, and Callum Davidson, also 24.

The trio – who all come from the Kirriemuir area – deny murdering Aberdeen oil worker Mr Donaldson in their home town between June 6 and June 7 2018.

Yesterday afternoon, Ms Malley told the court she had known Glass since around 2012 and that she had been “a good friend”.

She said she knew Glass had started dating Mr Donaldson. She had been introduced to him after they all attended a British Superbikes event at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife.

The trial, before Lord Pentland, continues.
