A Belfast man has been fined £1,000 and banned from the road for three years after being caught drink-driving in his work van in Aberdeen.
Sean McCafferty, 27, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court over the incident on Wellington Road.
An employee at a petrol station took the 27-year-old’s keys and contacted police.
Fiscal depute Lucy Simpson said: “At around 11.40pm on Sunday a witness working at the fuel station became aware of the accused when he went to the shop there.
“From speaking to him and his general demeanour she formed the opinion he was under the influence.
“The witness took possession of his car keys to prevent him driving off and contacted police.”

McCafferty, of Morningside Gardens in Belfast, pled guilty to driving with 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 22 microgrammes.
Defence agent Stuart Murray said: “He’d been out earlier in the day with work colleagues, he’s clearly consumed alcohol and thereafter he went to bed.
“He woke up, felt he would be okay to drive. Clearly that’s not the case.”
Sheriff Graham Buchanan said McCafferty had a previous conviction for a similar matter and disqualified him from driving for three years and fined him £1,000.
