A student has been fined and handed unpaid work after he was caught driving while disqualified and provided police with false details.
Ali Choudary, 28, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court for sentencing over the incident on March 2 at Spring Garden.
He previously pled guilty to using a vehicle with a defective brake light, driving while disqualified and without insurance, breaching bail conditions and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Fiscal depute Felicity Merson said: “It was around 4.10am when police noticed the accused’s vehicle and observed the offside brake light was defective.”
She added: “On being asked for details he provided false details.”
Defence agent Peter Keene said he had fallen out with the person he was staying with and left the address and, because it was raining, got in the car, adding: “He bitterly regrets that decision.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace fined Choudary, of Great Northern Road, Aberdeen, £740, disqualified him for two years and ordered him to do 100 hours of unpaid work.
