A man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after being caught with an air rifle.
David Munro, 40, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he pled guilty to having the weapon without a certificate at his address on Old Stonehaven Road, Nigg, on July 18 last year.
Depute fiscal Christy Ward said police executed a search warrant at the address in respect of a separate matter and discovered the rifle with a scope.
Defence agent Graham Morrison said his client had been renovating the property and it was in a state of disrepair and “inundated with vermin”. He added: “He’d had this air gun since the 1990s and hadn’t been aware of a change in the law.”
Sheriff Andrew Miller handed him 60 hours of unpaid work.
