A teenager who raped a 12-year-old north-east girl while on bail for having underage sex with another youngster has been jailed for more than five years.
Ronan Curtis, 19, struck just a month after he was freed by a sheriff.
He raped the youngster after being with her in a village in Aberdeenshire last July.
Curtis had earlier had sex with a 13-year-old girl after they had been chatting on social media.
He was yesterday sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Armstrong jailed him for a total of five years and one month. The judge said the effect on the rape victim had been “long lasting and significantly detrimental”.
He added: “The crime of rape is a grave one, which all girls should be protected from.”
Curtis, of Dundee, will also be on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
A hearing in Edinburgh was told Curtis believed the girl he raped was 13.
The teenager managed to push him off and flee back to her friends.

Curtis pled guilty to having unlawful sexual intercourse between March 1 and May 26 last year at a house in Dundee.
He also admitted raping the 12-year-old on July 28 and 29 last year.
Chris Fyffe, defending, said Curtis claimed what happened was the “worst decision of his life”.
An NSPCC Scotland spokesman said: “Curtis carried out a horrific sexual attack and has shown he is a danger to children. It is vital he receives treatment behind bars to reduce any risk he poses in the future.
“His victims have shown enormous bravery in speaking out about what happened to them.”
