He added that Corbett, whose address was given in court papers as Burnbrae Place, Aberdeen, accepted self-defence was not an issue and there were other “avenues he could have taken”.
The solicitor said: “It’s a matter of regret he acted as he did.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Corbett to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work within four months.
For the driving offence he fined him £140 and gave him three penalty points.
