An Aberdeen man has admitted careless driving after crashing into a lamp-post.
Michael Thomson appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court following the incident at 4am on May 10 on Roadside Terrace, St Cyrus.
The 45-year-old had previously pled guilty to dangerous driving and falling asleep at the wheel, but yesterday defence agent Les Green withdrew that plea. Instead he pled guilty to driving without due care and attention, losing control and crashing.
Mr Green said: “He’d been visiting a friend. He was staying overnight.
“He decided to set off early.
“I understand from his description of the road there’s a bit of a bend at the locus and he accepts that he was probably going fast and couldn’t take the bend and that’s his best recollection now as to what happened.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace gave Thomson, of Western Road, Aberdeen, five penalty points and 40 hours of unpaid work.
