A racing fan has been fined after being caught with cannabis as he returned to Aberdeen after the British Grand Prix.
Stuart McGill appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the matter, which happened on July 10 this year, two days after the Grand Prix at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, England.
The 43-year-old pled guilty to possession of the class B drug at Aberdeen Bus Station on Guild Street.
Depute fiscal Sally McAuley told the court the cannabis recovered weighed 18g and had an estimated street value of around £125.

She added: “He was getting off a bus at the time and was thereafter detained.”
Defence agent Sam Milligan, representing McGill, who is unemployed, said his client’s most recent previous conviction was from 2015.
He added: “He had been down with a friend at the British Grand Prix that weekend and was returning home.”
Mr Milligan said the quantity of cannabis was detected by a drug sniffer dog, adding that it was purely for personal use.
Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered McGill, whose address was given in court papers as View Gardens, Boddam, Aberdeenshire, to pay a fine of £360.
He allowed payment to be made at £10 per week.
