A man was caught driving under the influence of drugs after police spotted him “travelling at speed” in a Union Street bus lane.
Thomas Drysdale, 45, pled guilty to driving while unfit to do so due to drink or drugs when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
The offence happened on Union Street and Huntly Street in the city on December 22 last year.
Fiscal depute Lynzi Souter said: “At approximately midnight on December 22 last year, officers were on patrol when they observed the motor vehicle being driven by the accused travelling at speed in a bus lane on Union Street and turning into Huntly Street.
“Officers were concerned by the manner of driving so followed behind and activated their blue lights.”

Drysdale stopped when signalled to by the police.
Ms Souter added: “As the accused got out of his vehicle officers noted he was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were glazed and he appeared to be drowsy.”
Officers searched him and found a wrap of cocaine, weighing around 0.18g and worth just under £10.
A breath test returned negative results for alcohol.
Drysdale, of Ruthrieston Circle, Aberdeen, also pled guilty to possession of cocaine and failing to appear at court on a previous occasion.
Defence agent David Sutherland asked for sentence to be deferred for reports.
Sheriff Ian Wallace deferred sentence until December 12 and disqualified him from driving in the interim.
