A 17-year-old has been given unpaid work after admitting assaulting a 14-year-old schoolboy in an attack filmed and posted online.
The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, previously pled guilty to assaulting the boy in Aberdeenshire while acting with others.
Depute fiscal Gavin Letford told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the victim, who was 14 at the time, had been with a group of friends at the time of the incident at around 7.30pm on September 18 2017.
He said the group approached four or five males sitting on a wall to speak to them.
Mr Letford said three of the males, including the accused, approached the complainer and punched him to the head and body.
He added: “A friend of the complainer recorded the incident on his mobile phone. It would appear following this incident the video footage was posted on social media.”

The victim was left with bruising to his shoulder.
Defence agent Michael Horsman said there were a number of issues raised in a court social work report which were “cause for concern” and called for his client to be given a community payback order.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan ordered the teen be supervised for 18 months and to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work within eight months.
